Testimonials

We cannot thank you enough for such a brilliant evening with and for us last Thursday. It was much appreciated and enjoyed by all present… as I said they came from ‘all walks of life ‘. No one had been to such an event before .I was at Matins this morning, and everyone there said they had never attended such an unusual, entertaining and useful evening!  I expect some will be calling on your expertise in the future. The quiz was great fun, and it was so clever and kind of you to help the effort by auctioning the champagne too.  Every penny counts when supporting our church! Renewed heartfelt thanks for your kindness and generosity in giving us such a brilliant evening. Patricia Donati,

Thank you very much for your presentation to our members last Monday. Afterwards, everyone I talked to told me how much they had enjoyed the evening, which was interesting and informative but also very relatable and amusing. It was a useful insight into the importance of buying items that we like rather than just for gain and to realise that what we like may not remain in fashion forever. Fiona Loomes, Moreton in Marsh WI

Just to say what an excellent presentation it was.  So many people have commented on how much they enjoyed listening to you. The information you pushed out was astonishing, both on details of how the auction process worked but also the humour

to be found in the items that are presented. I was surprised by the number of items that our audience brought along for you to talk about with you discussing the background of most items effectively at first sight. An indication of your depth of knowledge obviously from your 50 years or so in the business. So once again, many, many thanks for such an interesting and well-received talk. Well worth the wait. Roland Higgins, U3A

Thank you for being such an integral part of the Ball last Saturday. Steve, you were the best Auctioneer we could have hoped for. Your attention to detail was amazing, along with your banter. As of yesterday, our fundraising stands at £55,515 with much of that due to you. Jane & Robert Spooner, Mel's Milestone 40 held in September 2021 in aid of BEAT eating disorders.

On behalf of the committee and members, thank you for such an interesting talk on Wednesday. The insight from someone with your experience and expertise was a revelation to most of us, as you could perhaps tell from the occasional gasps as you revealed the difference between estimated and gavel prices! We enjoyed handling the examples you circulated, and I know members appreciated your comments and suggestions when looking at the artefacts they brought in. I think you will get some visitors at your sessions at Wardington, too! Many thanks for a fascinating evening. Frances Whitaker, Secretary, Cropredy Historical Society

Steven Bruce spoke to the Shipton WI on ZOOM. He was a most interesting and enjoyable speaker and we had lots of positive feedback from the members. He began by showing some of the more unusual artefacts he had come across, telling us their history and valuation. He spoke of the various homes they had cleared and then he offered to value any items that we had which was fascinating and most unexpected. Altogether a very entertaining and educational evening. I have no hesitation in recommending Steven. The valuations were a real bonus too. Thank you! Do you happen to do any more talks so we could think about that for the future? Liz Shannon, Shipton - u - Wychwood WI

May we extend to you a huge 'Thank You' for your wonderful talk on TuesdayThe combination of humour and knowledge you brought to us ensured a very lively and informative meeting. The feedback we have received from our members was very rewarding – several said it was the best talk we have had in the 8 years the club has been running. It is always a good sign when we have to throw everyone out at 5 pm. I shall be in touch with you in the New Year to arrange a return visit. Thank you once again for entertaining and inspiring us. Pat Edwards, Inkberrow Tuesday Afternoon Tea Club

Thank you for your informative and amusing talk. It was very well received by our members. I will think of the stuffed relative each time I enter a new house. We look forward to hearing more, perhaps next year. Sue, Chairman U3A Upper Nene Villages

How on earth do we thank you enough for what you did for us on Saturday evening.  We have had some wonderful feedback from those that were there and, with your generosity throughout the evening one way and another, I have paid £1,228.56 into the bank today after taking out all expenses.  An amazing amount.  The evening was enormous fun and everyone seemed to enter into the spirit of things.  Lots of laughs and smiling faces – especially from those who were pleased with their valuations!!!  The quiz was fascinating and the talk was highly entertaining!! The vicar commented today about the really good atmosphere there. Jane O’Dell, Organiser of the Antiques Valuation Evening at Mappleborough Green Village Hall held on 18th April in support of Morton Bagot and Oldberrow Churches with a donation to Hope & Kindness.
